When I was in graduate school working toward licensure as a clinical psychologist in the forensic field, I never expected my practice to look the way it does today. What I expected was some stuffy office, perhaps located in some sort of locked facility, business suits or a white lab coat, a long commute where I agonized about the news, and during my day I would treat patients, conduct assessments, and complain with co-workers about this and that.
Instead I am rolling out of bed with only two minutes to spare, tumbling into my kitchen for a hard shot of caffeine and some sort of pastry, then a deep breath, a brush of my hands through my hair and over my face, and a quick, 'you got this' before I log on for my first client.
No commute. No perfect morning routine. Just me, my client, and a screen with miles between us. Technology is insane.
And now, as a modern day psychologist I'm starting a website and a blog because why not?
My goals here are to focus on topics related to psychology, clinical issues, and of course current events, but also I thought I would create something that is more personal and human. It's so easy to lose sight of those things in this world today, just at a time when it has become so critical.
So here I am, a therapist online in 2025. Welcome to my practice and welcome to my writings. I hope you find help, healing, and connection in this space.
